Your Ninja just completed an exciting journey into game creation with Game Lab: Retro Style! Over the past week, they learned how to design and code their own arcade-style video games using Microsoft MakeCode Arcade and block-based programming.
Throughout the camp, Ninjas explored core coding concepts, game mechanics, and creative design as they built their own playable games. Here’s a recap of the topics they mastered:
Ninjas were introduced to MakeCode Arcade and learned how to animate characters and design their own avatars.
They created scrolling maze games using tilemaps, setting start and end points, and building fun obstacles.
Campers learned about coordinates, velocity, and acceleration to code platformers and a classic Pong game using functions and physics.
Ninjas explored arrays and used them to generate enemies and effects in their arcade shooters and maze-based challenges.
They polished their games, added win/lose conditions, and celebrated by playtesting each other’s creations at the Ninja Arcade Party!
