Congratulations, Ninja Families!

Thank you for joining us for an amazing week at Developers: Intro to Web Design camp! Your ninjas stepped into the world of coding and digital creativity by learning how to build, style, and enhance their own websites from scratch. From personalized fan pages to custom-styled layouts and interactive buttons, our ninjas explored the foundations of front-end web development using real coding tools. We’re so proud of how they brought their ideas to life through code while developing problem-solving skills, confidence, and creativity.

🛠️ What We Covered This Week

Throughout the camp, Ninjas explored website structure, visual design, and interactive features using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript in Visual Studio and W3Schools. Here’s a recap of the activities and concepts covered:

Intro to HTML & Website Structure

Campers learned how to build the foundation of a webpage using HTML. They used headings, paragraphs, images, lists, and divs to structure content. They practiced good syntax, learned about tags, elements, and nesting, and began building their own personal websites.

CSS Styling & Selectors

Ninjas styled their websites using CSS. They learned to apply colors, fonts, spacing, and layout adjustments by using selectors, properties, and values. They practiced customizing individual elements with IDs and classes, giving their websites a polished and creative look.

Box Model & Creative Layouts

Campers deepened their understanding of CSS through the Box Model, exploring how margins, padding, and borders impact layout. They tested their skills in a fun CSS Flags Activity and continued refining the structure and design of their websites.

Intro to JavaScript & Web Interactivity

Ninjas brought interactivity to their websites using JavaScript. They learned about the DOM (Document Object Model) and how to create functions triggered by events like button clicks. This gave their pages dynamic features and responsive content changes.

Final Project & Showcase

To wrap up the week, campers finalized their custom websites by combining HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Each ninja created a site about a topic they love and proudly shared their project during the Parent Showcase, reflecting on their coding journey and celebrating their progress.
