Congratulations, Ninja Families!

Thank you for joining us for an amazing week at Developers: Mobile App Design + Code camp! Your ninjas became real app creators as they explored the world of mobile development using MIT App Inventor. Throughout the week, they combined creativity with coding logic to design, build, and share their own interactive mobile apps. From drawing apps to games and utility tools, our ninjas practiced critical thinking, user interface design, and teamwork while having a blast!

What We Covered This Week

Throughout the camp, Ninjas explored mobile app development, block-based coding, and user interaction design using MIT App Inventor. Here’s a recap of the key projects and concepts covered:

Intro to App Design & UI Building

Campers got started by learning how apps are built and structured. They explored the MIT App Inventor interface and built simple apps like Ninja Doodle and Ball Bounce, using drawing tools, sensors, and interactive components.

Randomization & Functions

Ninjas learned how to make apps fun and dynamic by using random generators and creating reusable functions. They developed the Ninja Fortune Teller and Ninja Masher, incorporating sound, visuals, and interactive feedback.

Game Logic & Score Tracking

Campers took their skills further with Wizard Defender and Clicker Frenzy, learning how to track scores, respond to user input, and control in-game logic using variables and conditional statements.

Physics, Movement & Real-World Tools

Ninjas simulated physics in their Ninja Putt mini-golf app and explored real-world applications with Ninja Pathfinder, a map-based app that helps locate and view saved addresses using GPS simulation tools.

Final Project & Showcase

To wrap up the week, campers designed and coded their own custom mobile app from scratch! During the Parent Showcase, they proudly presented their final apps and reflected on the creative and technical skills they developed.
