Your Ninja just completed an action-packed week of competitive gaming and team collaboration in Code Competitors: Game Design & Esports!
Throughout the week, they explored the exciting world of esports, game strategy, and team-based communication through structured training in Overwatch 2. From learning shooter fundamentals to practicing real tournament scenarios, your Ninja developed key critical thinking, leadership, and collaboration skills—while having a blast playing and learning as a team!
Throughout the camp, Ninjas explored competitive gameplay, strategic planning, and team communication in a professional-style gaming environment. Here's a recap of the key concepts and activities:
Campers learned what esports are and how competitive gaming works. They explored the basics of Overwatch 2, including hero types and game modes, then practiced essential shooter strategies using PAW: Positioning, Abilities, and Win Conditions.
Ninjas formed teams, created team names and logos, and assigned in-game roles. They learned about leadership positions like In-Game Leader (IGL) and Time Keeper, and practiced respectful communication while developing their Player Contracts.
Campers explored team compositions such as Brawl, Dive, and Poke, and how to counter different strategies. They participated in pre-tournament mini-games like Hero Gauntlet and Team Deathmatch to strengthen individual and team performance.
Ninjas planned their own team practices, focused on movement, communication, and play execution, and scrimmaged against other teams to refine their game plans. They also explored what makes a strong team identity.
It all came together in the final Code Ninjas League Championship! Teams competed in a Best-of-3 format, showcasing their communication, strategy, and teamwork. The week ended with a sharing circle and celebration, where Ninjas reflected on their growth and accomplishments.
